
It is reported that Sinotrans Eastern Company signed the official contract with CITIC Pacific Mining Management Private Limited on logistic service of the SINO IRON project. The contract, valid since July 4th 2008, marks a new splendid record in the transportation history of Sinotrans Eastern Company.
Sinotrans will be responsible for the SINO IRON program's transportation, covering courses from global purchase to construction bases. The whole line includes domestic section, marine shipment, air transport, and Australia's interior section.
Report said that the term of the logistic contract lasts for 30 months, and the cargo, estimated at 600,000 freight tonnes in all will be delivered from North America, Europe, and Asia, including China. Goods transported out of China account for 70%. With the adoption of modularization management, large and extra large goods will be seen, and some even amounts to 2,000 tonnes. The project includes dressing plant, palletizing plant, power plant, desalination plant, and port, etc.
The investor of the SINO IRON project is Hong Kong's CITIC Pacific, and this project is under the management of its sole subsidiary CPMM. The main contractor of the project is China Metallurgical Group Corporation.
This project is characterized by wide range of purchase, large amount of cargo, heavy single piece and high contract value, thereby calls for advanced technologies of logistic service in all aspects. With strong ability of distribution integration and project management, Sinotrans Eastern Company won the bid for the project.
The project is also expected to become a model for China's leading logistic companies to march into overseas market.
