Spanish media reported that Mr Garado Cienfuegos, who is the leader of the Asturias miners, has said that the sector will fight until the conflict is solved.
He is taking part in the march to Madrid, while three of his fellow workers are holding a sit in underground at the their mine, the Pozo Santiago in Aller.
Grandson and son of miners, Mr Gerardo has warned that the disappearance of the industry would be ‘an economic catastrophe’.
The march is continuing from different points across the country on its way to Madrid, and the miners say they will stay in the capital if there is no solution to the 60% cut announced in the State Budget for the coal industry.
