Port prices saw a mild increase again recently, when 5,500kc NAR products climbed to CNY 830 per tonne (USD 127.7) FOB Qinhuangdao on May 23, up by CNY 5 per tonne (USD 0.7 per tonne) from a week ago.
This is understood to be a reflection of last week’s price rise of the same amount in Shanxi. Prices for the quality have so far rallied CNY 60 per tonne (USD 9.2 per tonne) at Qinhuangdao in the past two months. Meanwhile, stocks at Qinhuangdao have stagnated on strong shipments.
The port piled 5.83 million tonne on May 23, marginally down from 5.93 million tonne on May 16. In the week ended May 22, 0.76 million tonne per day of coal was railed into Qinhuangdao, rising 3.9% week on week, but shipments were 0.77 million tonne per day up 6%.
