Steam coal prices hit the highest point at Qinhuangdao Port
Shanghai Securities News reported that power coal prices continued to rise at Qinhuangdao Port during May Day holiday, with an average increase of CNY 15 per tonne. Prices reached their highest point in two and half years.
According to the Bohai Rim Steam Coal Price Index, the price index averaged CNY 808 per tonne an increase of CNY 9 per tonne from last month and increased 5.35% in six weeks. An industry insider said the price rise has lots to do with China's shrinking coal imports.
