
US coal use down by 5pct from previous week - Genscape
Genscape said that US coal consumption fell 5% in the past week as hurricane turned tropical storm Irene cut power to millions.
Data monitor said that use of coal for the week to Thursday fell 2% from the same week of 2010, the power industry.
In the populous East, including the Midwest and Southeast, coal use dropped 7% from the previous week and 1%from the same week last year.
