According to the preliminary data issued for the H1 of 2009, the Ukrainian steelmakers decreased their imports of iron ore by 19.8% to 1.711 million tonnes while the Ukrainian mining companies reduced their iron ore exports by 12.1%YoY to 1.402 million tonnes both compared to the same period last year.

In June, Ukraine imported 437,540 tonnes of iron ore down by 9.6%MoM including 435,650 tonnes of non agglomerated iron ore down by 4.7%MoM and 1,890 tonnes of agglomerated iron ore down by 92.9%MoM.

On the other hand, in June Ukraine’s exports of iron ore increased by 13.8% MoM to 2.131 million tonnes including about 1.305 million tonnes of non agglomerated iron ore up by 14.5%MoM, and 826,330 tonnes of agglomerated iron ore up by 12.8% MoM.
