According Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Boiko, Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has decided to launch a special investigation in the import of oil products to Ukraine.
Lysychansk City Council's Web site with reference to Mr Boiko said that “The government has decided to launch a special investigation, and introduce duties on imported fuel as of December 1.”
According to the minister, such measures will support domestic oil refineries.
Mr Boiko forecast that Lysychansk oil refinery, which is currently standing idle, would restart work in the period between November 15 and December 15.
As reported, Ukraine's oil refineries and Shebelynka gas processing plant cut crude refining by 46.4%, to 3.293 million tonnes in January to August 2012. The reduction in supplies and refining is connected first and foremost with the shutdown in March of Lysychansk oil refinery for repairs, with the possibility of future mothballing.
