It is reported that the United Mine Workers of America will release its report on the 2010 explosion that killed 29 men at a West Virginia coal mine next week.
President Mr Cecil Roberts plans recently briefing in Charleston on the disaster at the Upper Big Branch mine. He said that the report will be tough on regulators. He says the union has fewer restrictions than other investigating agencies. The UMW has no enforcement action or inaction to explain. Nor does it have to defend lawsuits.
Investigators say the blast was fuelled by methane and coal dust. But Mr Roberts says the victims' families deserve to know the whole story and the union report offers more detail.
The UMW is a legal representative of workers at the non-union mine.
