It is reported that thermal coal spot prices at DES ARA Index of globalCOAL slumped in the week ended on February 20th 2009. The spot prices in the week ended February 20, 2009 compared to the previous week's prices moved up by 3.39%.

The coal spot price reached USD 76.25 per ton on February 20, 2009 for delivery in May 2009 which stood at USD 78.93 per ton on February 13, 2009.

The spot price of coal for delivery within May 2009 in Richards Bay Index witnessed a significant decline in the week ended on February 20th 2009. The prices slipped by 7.04% to USD 67.83 per tonne.
