
The News reported that Vietnamese delegation, comprising 30 businessmen held meetings with high officials and counterparts in the private sector to explore ways to enhance trade and investment in Pakistan.
Mr Abdul Majid Haji Muhammad president of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that “Delegates may win a contract to explore coal reserves in Thar of Sindh.”
He said that Thar coal has 185 billion tonnes of reserves, which may be sufficient for 100 years usage as an alternative source of energy.
Dr Le Duong Quang vice minister of Industry and Trade is heading the delegation. The delegates held businessmen to businessmen meeting with their counterparts at the KCCI and called on Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad. During their meeting with the governor, the delegation offered expertise in IT, telecom, coal, mineral, steel, cement, textile, chemical, fertiliser, tea, food and other agricultural products. The trade volume between the two countries stood at USD 183 million in 2009.
