ABC reported that Western Australian coal producer proposed Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme unfairly favors the east coast coal industry.
Mr Paul Downie from Griffin Coal said that the efficiencies of WA's coal sector, which operates on a lower burn rate than that used in the eastern states are not acknowledged. Mr Downie said that he can see why the CPRS has been delayed.
He said that "We're saying there needs to be a fair and equitable system and at the moment this scheme isn't fair and equitable. It's weighted to benefit east coast coal producers.”
