WDS Ltd's mining division has renewed its existing contract for the installation of secondary support at Xstrata's Tahmoor coal mine.

The project involves the installation of secondary roof support in the mine's longwall gate roads in advance of the retreating longwall production unit.

Mr Terry Chapman MD of WSD explained that the company has been working for Xstrata Coal at the Tahmoor Colliery since 2002, so it is pleasing to achieve the renewal of this contract.

Mr Chapman went on to add that the project has not had a recordable injury in more than a year.

The contract will run for another two years, with an option to extend for a further 12 months.

It is worth approximately AUD 20 million.
