
According to NDRC stats released on June 1, North western province Xinjiang mined 28.23 million tonne of coal in the first four months of this year, an increase of 4.32 million tonne or 18.08% from the same period of last year.
Coal transported to other regions, mainly neighboring Gansu, rose 25.2% year on year to 6.41 million tonne with 4.41 million tonne by railings, up 21.8%.
Of Xinjiang’s estimated output of 110 million tonne this year, interregional movement will be 20 million tonne as per local plans. The region expects an output of 500 million tonne per year by 2015, of which 20% will be delivered to neighboring regions.
It’s predicted that outbound transportation will be 500 million tonne per year by 2020, and 800 million tonne per year by 2025, along with completion of major railway projects.
