MetalBiz reported that Bureau of Geology and Mineral Exploration of Xinjiang unveiled on January 6th 2010 that as Xinjiang energy and resource strategy is transferred, the geology and mineral department strengths mineral resource exploration, to implement the deep seeking mineral, discovering more than 200,000 tonnes of gold and 1 billion tonnes of iron ore.

Bureau of Geology and Mineral Exploration of Xinjiang stated that last year they found 21 mineral places including coal, gold, iron ore and lead & zinc. At the aspect of coal resource exploration, Turpan and Qomul found over 190 million tonnes; Zhundong coalfield's coal deposit exceeds 200 billion tonnes.

It is learned that gold, iron, lead & zinc and other metal mineral exploration programs also made the achievements. Gold reserves surpass 20 tonnes and its total deposit may reach 30 tonnes, largely adding to Xinjiang gold reserves. It said that Xinjiang geology and mineral exploration department will continue implementing deep seeking mineral strategy.
