It is reported that North Western China Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region will collect local economic development fee from coal mining enterprises, local paper reported. Coal mining enterprises will be charged CNY 15 per tonne of local economic development fee for thermal coal and CNY 20 a tonne for coking coal.

However, if the coal produced is used for power generation and coal chemical projects in Xinjiang, only 40% of the fee would be collected.
