Itar-Tass citing Mr Vyacheslav Shtyrov President of the Republic of Sakha as saying that Russia’s largest diamond company ALROSA will pay dividends for 2008 and expects to receive net profit worth of RUB 4 billion for last year

In his words, the final decision on the amount of dividends will be adopted at an April meeting of the company’s supervisory board, which will also be devoted to the results of ALROSA work and financial indicators for 2008.

Mr Shtyrov said “Undoubtedly, the crisis affected work of the company, adding that ALROSA mainly faced problems with its external sales. He said that according to preliminary information, the company gained net profit worth of RUB 4 billion in 2008, adding that the index will be adjusted in the accounting report for the year.”

Mr Shtyrov said “We are confident, the company will be stable even in the crisis times and we will be able to pay dividends for 2008.”

ALROSA is one of the world biggest diamond production companies.
