Interfax citing Mr Dmitry Medvedev Russian President said at a modernization commission meeting as saying that basic decisions on the tariff policy for natural monopolies need to be adopted both for the medium- and long-term perspective and the approaches that have proven successful in dealing with connections to power grids should apply to other natural monopolies.

Mr Medvedev said at the moment, rules are already operating on legal levels which have resulted in a 50% decrease in the payment for connecting to power grids. In addition, unreasonably high profits for sales organizations have been limited and the contract terms for connections have been regulated.

He said that similar approaches need to be used in dealing with other monopolies.
