Ukrainian Journal reported that the trade union of ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih, in a letter to the company administration has demanded a 10% wage increase effective January 1.

According to a union newspaper, the requirement of the trade union committee is linked to the increase of subsistence wage and minimum wage from January 1 2012 under the law on the national budget of Ukraine for 2012.

It is said that paragraph 2.17 of the existing collective agreement foresees an increase of wages from the moment of there being changes to the subsistence wage under Ukrainian law.

Paragraph 3.2.1 of the agreement of the Ukrainian mining and metals sector foresees the provision of a minimum rate of remuneration for a first class worker with normal labor conditions of at least 105% of the minimum wage.
