Azovstal Steel Plant operating under umbrella of Metinvest Group held an ecological tree planting campaign in the Generation Park of Ordzhonikidze District in Mariupol.

The campaign was held as a part of the events dedicated to the plant's 76th anniversary. Among the participants were representatives of the city management, employees of the plant representatives of the council of young specialists, association of women, plant's veterans, representatives of Ordzhonikidze district administration and mass media. They planted 76 maple trees.

The number of saplings is symbolic as it corresponds to the plant age. The participants tied each tree with a ribbon on which they had written the date of the plant’s birth. The information on the ribbons also included the name and year of foundation of Azovstal structural units. Such campaigns are expected to become Azovstal good tradition and will be held annually to coincide with the plant’s birthday.

Mr Vladimir Stepanov Chairman of Ordzhonikidze district administration of Mariupol said “Tree planting in the industrial city is an important part of caring for the environment. As the result the participants of the campaign have improved the territory which is a wonderful present for Mariupol citizens.”
