According to the official information from Byelorussian Steel Works, a new company BMZ Tubulars was established in December 2011 followed a decision reached at a meeting of representatives of BMZ, Swiss-based Duferco SA and Austrian company Pisec Group GmbH.
The share of BMZ in the authorized capital of the new company is 51%. It is planned that BMZ Tubulars will purchase pipes from BMZ and finish them as per API 5CT standard.
The new finishing facility will produce OCTG pipes with diameter of 60.3mm to 168.3 mm and wall thickness of 4.24mm to 22.22 mm up to 15 meters in length as well as couplings for the pipes. The planned sales volume of seamless pipes may reach 100,000 tonnes per year depending on the product mix.
Implementation of the project will allow BMZ to extend pipe processing and develop production of a high tech product. It will be possible to extend sales markets, gain additional earnings from sales of pipes with bigger added-value and increase pipe mill production output in general.
The next steps in establishing BMZ Tubulars will be selection of a construction site and design and construction works. Project commissioning is planned for 2014.
