
The Russian steel producer ESTAR Holding has announced that in April this year its Rostov based subsidiary Rostov Electrometallurgical Works produced more than 61,200 tonnes of billets up by 2%MoM.
In the first four months of the current year, REMZ registered an increase of 57%YoY in its billet output to 204,800 tonnes compared to 130,200 tonnes produced in the same period last year. Meanwhile, the plant's sales in January to April this year amounted to 203,700 tonnes which almost matches the produced volume.
According to the company statement, REMZ is fully secured with necessary raw materials and plans to continue to operate at the designed capacity level.
In 2009, REMZ produced about 383,000 tonnes of billet. Commissioned in 2008, REMZ has an annual capacity of 730,000 tonnes of billets.
