It is reported that more steel will be coming out of Evraz Rocky Mountain Steel’s Pueblo plant, thanks to a new air quality permit issued by the state’s Air Pollution Control Division.
After the steel plant’s emissions were measured this year, the state agency determined that Evraz can increase its output from its current cap of 1.01 million tons a year to a new limit of 1.35 million tons.
A high ranking international Evraz executive has said the Pueblo plant’s first planned growth move is to boost rail production by 15% starting in the second half of 2012. Additionally, the plant may increase its production of tubular goods for the energy sector as demand grows.
