
Interfax reported that the company Exxon Neftegas Ltd the operator of the Sakhalin-1 project will be providing USD 75 million over the next three years for the building of the Yuzhno-Skahlinsk-Okha road which will link the south and north of the island.
As per report, the latest partnership agreement which stipulates the provision of these funds, was signed by the region governor Mr Alexander Skharshavin and ENL's president Mr James Taylor.
ENL will use the money to build a cross-island highway through the north of Sakhalin, and through the Nogliki and Okha regions.
It said "For us this is a really important document, that makes possible a new vector for resolving social tasks in the Sakhalin region, allows in large part to improve the lives of Sakhalin residents who live in the notrhtern regions of the island,"
The governor said figuring that in the near future there will be worked out an optimal scheme for the gasification of the Sakhalin region with the use of Sakhalin-2 gas, this means a new century of cooperation between the regional government and the company ENL.
