Interfax reported that the British outfit Ferrexpo which controls iron ore pellet producer Poltava Mining in Ukraine increased output of iron ore concentrate 2.6%YoY to 6.7 million tonnes in the period January-July.

A source in the sector told Interfax that commercial pellet production dipped 0.6%YoY to 5.525 million tonnes.

The Ukrainian enterprise produced 800,000 tonnes of pellets and 960,000 tonnes of concentrate just in July. Ferrexpo produced 2% less pellet last year than in 2010 9.834 million tonnes in all, but increased concentrate output by 1.9% to 11.442 million tonnes.

Ferrexpo is the Commonwealth of Independent States' biggest iron ore pellet producer and exporter. The company's main consumers are steelmakers in Austria, Serbia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and other European countries, as well as China, India, Japan and other Asian countries.
