It is reported that in 2011, Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol a subsidiary of Ukraine largest vertically integrated mining and steel group Metinvest saw 8.6%YoY increase in its crude steel production to 6.136 million tonnes and an 18.4% increase in its finished steel production to 4.710 million tonnes.

In the given period, Ilyich produced 5.177 million tonnes of pig iron and 11.983 million tonnes of agglomerate up by 9.5% and 7.4% respectively compared to 2010. In December alone, the company produced 350,000 tonnes of finished steel, 456,000 tonnes of steel, 425,000 tonnes of pig iron and 1.005 million tonnes of agglomerate.
