
RIA Novosti reported that France car maker Renault may build a car making plant in the Khabarovsk region in Russia Far East
A Renault delegation headed by Mr Igor Titov Renault Russia Deputy General Director has examined several areas in the region for a possible site for the plant.
Renault specialists have examined the production facilities of Daldizel and Gorky plants and several sites in Khabarovsk. The delegation also visited the town of Sovetskaya Gavan where it examined the premises of the former Northern Shipyard Company.
Titov said that the company needed about 25 hectares for the future plant, including 20,000 square meters for the factory buildings and the remaining floorspace for inventory warehouses.
The main requirements for the sites are gas supplies and a railway link. Finished goods will be transported by railroad to Russian regions and will also be sold in the country Far East.
Mr Vyacheslav Shport Khabarovsk Region Governor told Titov that the regional government would create the necessary conditions for the company to set up car production.
