Ukrainian News Agency quoted Mr Arkady Dvorkovich Russia Deputy Prime Minister has said that the price at which Ukraine imports natural gas from Russia may reduce if Ukraine joins the Customs Union of the Common Economic Area.

Mr Dvorkovich said "If Ukraine wants to have beneficial relations with Russia the Customs Union is possibly the right choice. He said that Gazprom makes losses because it sells gas at a lower price within the Customs Union compared with the price at which it sells on other markets, but Russia makes profits in other industries particularly in such industries as engineering and aviation.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, President Viktor Mr Yanukovych has said that he is not ruling out the possibility of Ukraine integrating into the Customs Union of the Common Economic Area.

Russia considers unacceptable Ukraine proposal to cooperate with the Customs Union in the 3 +1 format on which Ukraine has repeatedly insisted.
