Ukrainian Journal reported that Gazprom may transfer fields in Astrakhan region to a joint venture between the Russian gas giant and Naftogaz Ukrayiny.

Gazprom said in a statement following a meeting between Gazprom CEO Mr Alexei Miller and Ukrainian Fuel and Energy Minister Mr Yuriy Boyko that "The sides examined specific fields including fields in the Astrakhan region."

The meeting was held in conjunction with Ukrainian President Mr Viktor Yanukovych visit to Russia.
