
Kazakhstan mining and processing plant Kazakhmys announced that copper output increase by 7% in Q4 2008 comparing to Q3. However, the company intends to cut the output due to copper demand drop.
Copper output made 105.500 000 tonnes in October to December 2008, 98.300 000 tonnes in July and 103.100 000 tonnes in Q4 2007. Totally in 2008 copper output made 378.100 000 tonnes against 381.200 000 tonnes in 2007.
In 2009 Kazakhmys will decrease copper cathodes output to almost 300 000 tonnes and decrease investments by USD 250 million. Besides, expenses cut is planned by USD 200 million in order to get income under the market stagnation conditions.
