Interfax reported that Kazakhstan has not yet found partners for the development of the integrated petrochemical complex in the Atyrau region and will commence the project on its own.
Mr Aset Magauov Kazakh Deputy Oil and Gas Minister said "LyondellBasell was due to make the decision in January, however it didn't. But we have to move on. So we will start the development ourselves."
He said the funding issue had already been solved and that Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries, the project operator, and Sinopec Engineering had recently signed an agreement for the cooperation in the first polypropylene production phase.
Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries is owned by Sat & Company LLP and KazMunaiGas Exploration Production on a parity basis.
