Interfax quoted Mr Dmitry Medvedev Russian Prime Minister as saying that talks on the formation of a joint venture between Russian and Belarusian truck makers MAZ and Kamaz are at an advanced stage.
He said that "I consider the enterprise, its creation to be at an advanced stage, the positions of the sides are largely agreed. There are of course issues that require further adjustment."
He added that the process of forming the joint venture is complex because it has to cater for the interests of the Belarusian state, of Russia's Kamaz and of Germany's Daimler, which is a Kamaz shareholder.
He also said "So this is a fairly complex negotiating process which I hope will be rounded off in the relatively short term."
