Itar Tass reported that Russia’s Gazprom gas giant suspends indefinitely its projects in Libya.

Company sources said that the situation in Libya is still far from normalizing and with that in view we have to suspend our projects in that country indefinitely.

Before the start of combat actions in Libya, Gazprom made a transaction with Eni to buy 50% of the Italian company’s share in the Elephant project. The deal comes into effect after the approval by the Libyan government but permission has not been given.

Besides, Gazprom is participant in projects of Germany’s Wintershall in Libya which has also frozen its projects and evacuated its personnel from the country.
