Interfax reported that Russia had zero inflation in the week of September 8th to 14th.

Prices on fruit and vegetables have not risen in the past four weeks owing to seasonal factors: there was no change in prices in the week of September 1st to 7th a price decline of 0.1% in August 25th to 31st and no change in the week of August 18th 24th.

Higher gasoline prices prevented overall inflation in August from being negative. It was reported earlier that inflation in August was zero for the first time since August 2005. Inflation in August 2008 was 0.4%.

Since the beginning of September inflation has been 0.0% and 8.1% since the beginning of the year. Inflation in September 2008 was 0.8%.
