Despite of negative economic news from MEA, that is currently a key region for CIS supplies, no negative information regarding prices is coming. Moreover prices have picked up slightly once again.
The buyers are not very active, but producer’s order books are fine, so they are trying to push a little bit.
Demand on billets is more than moderate, but producers have started to ask some USD 5 per tonne to USD 10 per tonne more comparing to previous week and average bids are at USD 410 per tonne to USD 420 USD per tonne FOB Black Sea now. Buyers are trying to get lower levels of USD 400 per tonne to USD 410 per tonne.
But the clouds are still looming as it seems that producers have still to sell a lot before the winter break.
Incidentally, this time celebrations in Russia and Ukraine should end in January 10th 2010.
