
Mr Vladimir Markin president of the United Metallurgical Company took part in the ceremony of commissioning of gas pipeline Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok which was held on September 8 the island of Russian. The event was attended by Russian Prime Minister Mr Vladimir Putin, Chairman of the Board of OAO Gazprom Mr Alexey Miller and representatives of building contractors members of the public.
United Metallurgical Company acted as a key supplier of pipes for the project. From June 2009 until the end of the pipeline OMC supplied 355 400 tons of pipe diameter 1220 mm. with a wall thickness of 17.8mm to 21.2 mm. For the underwater section of the party was placed 1020 mm diameter pipes with wall thickness of 27 mm. The pipes were produced at Vyksa Steel Works. Total gas was delivered to 763 300 tons of pipes.
Mr Vladimir Markin President of the OMC said "We are satisfied with the work on gas pipeline project" Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok. In fact, every second pipe in the pipeline a pipe UMC. Thanks to massive investment in upgrading and building new facilities OMC can produce pipes of any of the highest quality. And I'm glad that it appreciates our strategic partner, Gazprom. OMC participation in all the key projects of Gazprom is recognition of our products on our internal domestic market which has been and remains a priority for UMC."
The pipeline 1350 kilometres capacity 6 billion cubic meters meters of gas per year. The pipeline will supply gas to consumers, most of the Khabarovsk and Primorye territories, Jewish Autonomous Oblast and Sakhalin Oblast. Its main resource base will deposit the Sakhalin shelf, including the project "Sakhalin-3".
