
Interfax reported that Naftogaz Ukrainy is in talks with Norwegian oil and gas state corporation Statoil ASA on its involvement in hydrocarbon exploration and extraction on the Black Sea shelf and developing unconventional gas deposits in western Ukraine.
In late May 2011 the companies discussed a draft cooperation agreement. Currently a draft agreement on joint activities between the companies is being approved at the headquarters of Statoil.
In addition, Naftogaz achieved agreement with Statoil on training its specialists at the Norwegian company. Naftogaz is continuing talks with Exxon Mobil Corp, Chevron and Halliburton to involve them in hydrocarbon production in Ukraine.
