It is reported that Russian steel and pipe producer OMK has announced that it has received the certification of the multinational petroleum company Shell as a producer and supplier of large diameter pipes for transportation of acidic media, such as sulfur dioxide and sulfurous oils.
OMK applied for Shell certification in 2008. In autumn last year, OMK produced a testing batch of large diameter pipes with the required characteristics, and in November-December Shell’s specialists conducted certification tests of the production process at OMK’s Nizhny Novgorod-based pipe producing subsidiary Vyksa Steel Works for its correspondence to Shell’s requirements.
OMK is the first Russian pipe producer to receive Shell certification.
