It is reported that Russia produced 12.8 million tonnes of crude steel in the Q1 of 2009 down by 33.3% YoY, 9.7 million tonnes of pig iron down by 29.7% YoY, 10.4 million tonnes of steel billet down by 17.5% YoY and 6.5 million tonnes long products down by 30% YoY.

During the same period, Russian flat products totaled 4.6 million tonnes down by 29% YoY. Among the flat products, 1.2 million tonnes were cold rolled and 3.4 million tons were hot rolled with a drop of 43% YoY and 22.7% YoY respectively.
