
It is reported that Zlatoust Metallurgical Works a subsidiary of the Russian steel producer ESTAR Holding has restarted operations at its open hearth furnace No 7 which will allow it to sizeable increase its crude steel output. ZMZ OHF No 7 was idled in December 2008.
Mr Evgeny Teftelev minister of industry and natural resources of Russia’s Chelyabinsk region said the restart of the furnace will enable ZMZ to bring back to work 250 more employees.
As SteelOrbis previous reported, in August 2009, ZMZ intends to increase its crude steel production to 16,000 tonnes up by 84%MoM but down by 72%YoY.
