
Itar-Tass reported that the national report of the Nord Stream AG company on the impact on the environment of the construction of the Nord Stream gas pipeline in the Danish territorial waters and in the Danish exclusive economic zone has been published in Denmark. It is possible to familiarize with the document on a number of the national websites.
The report drafted based on a thorough study of the environment and consultations with the Danish authorities will be discussed within the coming eight weeks by the public of 6 cities Copenhagen, Aalborg, Odense, Aarchus, Ronne and Nexo. Public hearings on the situation of the Bornholm Island that will be held on April 21st as well as two seminars will become component parts of the consultations’ process.
During the consultation process Nord Stream AG worked out at the request of the Danish authorities an alternative route running south of the Bornholm Island in order to reduce the risks for the environment and move the pipeline away from areas linked with the national security.
In the course of the consultations the Danish public will be able to express its opinion and comment on the Nord Stream project. This stage of international consultations is planned to be completed in July 2009, in accordance with the project’s schedule.
