
Rautaruukki delivered steel framework for a new Amur Ice Stadium in Habarovsk in Far East Russia. Amur Ice Stadium was officially opened on December 30th 2008.
Mr Sergey Chernyshev Director General of Ruukki in Russia said "We have developed and manufactured a custom designed building framework weighting 325 tonnes. We managed to deliver it within 3 months thanks to well-coordinated delivery to construction site."
He said that "In Russia, demand for sports facilities remains high, that is why prompt erection techniques are so vital and appreciable. Construction process based on our techniques allows having a high-standard full-equipped sports facility finished in 11 months on average. Increasing popularity of our technique is also confirmed by more than 26 existing orders obtained by Ruukki for sport industry"
Sport complex consists of two ice arenas for training, figure-skating performances and ice hockey games.
