It is reported that expansion eastwards is a further step in Ruukki's strategic intent to become the industry leader in steel construction in Europe.

Mr Saku Sipola President of Ruukki Construction said that "Expansion of our sales network into Belarus will improve our customer service and provide the potential for new partnerships. There is strong demand for new solutions and fast construction technologies, which we are now better placed to provide."

As per report, the construction market in Belarus has been showing strong growth. In the first half of 2008 the construction sector grew by more than 20%.
