It is reported that the reducing shop at DEMZ, one of the most modern steel mill in Ukraine now owned by Mechel Group was stopped earlier before in 2009 and recently it was restarted. The investment in restart was UAH 20 million

The project capacity of reducing shop is 700,000 tonnes per year of high quality steel products. This is hot rolled steel of large diameters up to 350 mm of carbon and alloyed grades, including heat treated steel products. There are only two mills in CIS which produce such kind of steel products. Major applications are tube and pipe manufacturing, machines manufacturing, automotive industry and vessel manufacturing.

To produce finished products there will be used as ingots of own production as from Donetskstal, Russian and Romanian mills of Mechel in frames of strategic partnership, providing also sales of DEMZ products including through steel trading network Mechel-Service which has over 30 service centers and stocks in Europe.

In accordance with the words of general manager of the mill, with reducing shop total production capacity will reach 1.5 million tonnes per year of finished steel.
