
RIA Novosti citing Mr Sergei Darkin Primorye Governor as saying that the Renault-Nissan-AvtoVAZ motor alliance is considering opening a vehicle-assembly factory in Russia Far East.
He said a delegation from the alliance was currently in the area to assess the situation on the ground. He added that "It will study the feasibility of the project's implementation and look at sites where assembly facilities could be set up."
He continued the alliance looks to use existing production manufacturing facilities and infrastructure, adding that several sites in the cities of Slanyanka, Arsenyevka, Artyom, Nakhodka, Ussuriisk and Partizansk had been proposed.
The governor said "These include former military vehicle maintenance and defense-industry enterprises."
