Interfax citing Mr Vladimir Putin Prime Minister of Russia as saying that the capacity of civil shipbuilding in Russia should not just be rebuilt but built all over again.

He said that domestic civil shipbuilding was competitive neither during the Soviet nor the post Soviet era.

Mr Putin said "If you start from zero, then it must be done on the most advanced technological level.”

In this case, according to Mr Putin, it is necessary to attract foreign partners who are leaders in global civil shipbuilding, among whom he named the companies in South Korea and Japan.”

At the same time, Mr Putin noted there was quite a good shipbuilding created in the Amur region which is working steadily”.
