
According to the data released by the Russian Federation Federal State Statistics Service, in January to October 2009 Russia produced 48.3 million tonnes of crude steel down by 21.7% YoY, 41.8 million tonnes of finished steel products down by 17.5% YoY, 5.3 million tonnes of steel pipes down by 23.3%YoY.
In addition, during the same period the country registered a 12.2% decrease in coal mining output and a 16.3% reduction in iron ore mining output. The respective figures in metric tons were 239 million and 75.5 million.
