Interfax Mr Vladimir Putin Prime Minister of Russia said during a meeting with Mr John Watson chairman & CEO of Chevron that the state may provide support to implementation of a joint production project between Rosneft and Chevron.

Mr Putin said "We are taking note of the fact you are assuming certain risks as concerns geological exploration. That places certain challenges before us in connection with support for those kinds of projects."

He said that Rosneft and Chevron plan to sign an agreement that would allow the US oil major to take part in production projects in Russia.
