Interfax reported that State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic maritime drilling division Bail Limany Trust for complex drilling works has begun boring a new well in the shallow-water area of the Gunashli deposit.

Well 160 is being drilled in marine section 10. Projected well depth is 2,950 meters. Geologists reckon average daily flow at 100 tonnes of oil. The shallow-water part of the Gunashli field has been in development since 1980. The deposit accounts for as much as 65% of all SOCAR oil production.
