
The Novosti-Kazakhstan information agency has announced that from July 1st, the ENRC Kazakhstan steel group will raise the wages in all local enterprises by 20% on average.
Kazakhstan enterprises belonging to ENRC employ more than 65,000 people.
The company states that during the period from 2006 to 2011, investments of the group into social programs aimed towards supporting employees accounted to more than KZT 31 billion.
ENRC is a diversified group in the area of mining and mineral processing as well as one of the largest electricity providers in Kazakhstan. The company operates in Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Brazil and Africa.
It is reported that reserves of chrome ore at ENRC are the largest among the CIS countries totaling 183 million tonnes at the end of 2008 and it is believed that they have a higher level of chromium than other major manufacturers. The group of companies also has significant proven reserves of manganese, iron ore, bauxite and coal.
