Itar-Tass reported that Mr Danilo Turk President of Slovenia regards the building of the South Stream gas pipeline as an important strategic project both for Russia and Europe.
He said “We are witnessing perceptible progress in the building of South Stream. Slovenia finished the analysis of the feasibility of the project. We did it prior to the set time limits. We fully realize that South Stream is a multinational project, in which a number of countries are taking part. The success of the project depends on all the participants, for instance, on Bulgaria, which quite recently signed an agreement with Russia on the creation of a joint enterprise.”
He added that “South Stream is an important strategic project both for Russia and Europe. We do not see any contradictions between South Stream and Nabucco. Both gas pipelines should be regarded by Europe, Russia and other participants as new accomplishments.”
